Some personal notes on windsurfing.

Harness

  • Put the straps first: Front foot, back foot
  • Get into the harness: look forward
  • Put 50% of your body weight on the harness lines: keep your center low (bend knees if low wind)
  • Pull front arm to kill power

Planning

  • Steer with the mast! Small movements
  • Pull front hand to release (kill) power
  • Push with your heels, not with the thoes!

Fast Tack

  • Front foot in front of the mast
  • Three arm steps and three foot steps: forward, cross, flip
  • Extend your new front arm
  • keep the rig away

Jibe

  • Body weight on the the tail
  • Keep boom close to your chest (bent arms)
  • There is a short moment with maximum sail surface

Water-Start

  • only back foot on board
  • keep body center low
  • hands together (shoulder width) and straight (max lift)
